Chief Ralph Evangelous took the helm of the Wilmington Police Department in August of 2004. Since his arrival the department has embarked on several new initiatives, Model Block Project and the MUD (Maximum Uniform Deployment) Initiative.

The Chief oversees the progress of more than 300 employees and a $19 million dollar budget. The Administrative Division is under the immediate command of the Chief of Police. Within this division lies the offices of the Police Attorney, Professional Standards, Public Relations, Crime Analyst, Chaplains Unit and the Policy and Inspection Unit.

A recent evaluation of crime in Wilmington has shown a tremendous decrease in Part I offenses. By utilizing creative and out-of-the-box concepts we will strive to drive criminal activity down.
