The city recently completed upgrades to several city parks to make them more handicapped accessible. Cameron Park, Sunset and Adams Park, Southgate Park and Hanover Heights Park are among the many other parks which have also had wide sidewalks added for easier access to playgrounds, shelters and other park amenities.

The most recent parks to receive upgrades are Beaumont (off Wayne Drive), Bicentennial (off 5th Avenue) and Tower (10th and Wooster Streets). The Greenfield Park Fragrance Garden gazebo has also been upgraded to meet federal handicap accessibility standards. Tower Park also received upgrades to fencing, basketball goals, lights and seating, as well as landscape upgrades.

Future improvements are planned at the Wallace, Kennedy and Mother's park locations, among others. The projects are funded in part by $600,000 from the 2006 Parks and Greenspace Bond.
