At left, crews put the finishing touches on a new section of sidewalk on Princess Place Drive that will make it safer for students to walk to Freeman Elementary School.
The 800-foot section of sidewalk connects Rachel Freeman Elementary School with 30th Street. Prior to the sidewalk installation, students had to walk on the very edge of the road or in the road, making it unsafe when going to school.
This $38,000 project is one of several sidewalk projects the city is working on. While many areas need sidewalks, priority is placed on linking major sections of existing sidewalks and serving areas that are near schools, hospitals and shopping areas.
