Items of interest on the agenda include: 

  • APPROVED. A resolution appointing Assistant City Attorney Amy Schaefer as the interim city attorney, effective April 1. She will replace William Wolak who is retiring Mar. 31. Wolak started in the Attorney’s Office as the assistant city attorney for public safety in 1995 and was named city attorney in 2012. He has 29 total years of employment with the city. 
     
  • APPROVED. An amendment to the city’s agreement with First Tee in Wilmington to provide maintenance to their new practice facility currently under construction at the Municipal Golf Course. The First Tee teaches youths age 7-18 life lessons and values through the game of golf. Last year, Council agreed to lease a portion of the golf course to First Tee. First Tee has agreed to reimburse the city maintenance costs on a quarterly basis, which is expected to cost approximately $51,400 each fiscal year. Because maintenance will begin immediately, the First Tee has agreed to reimburse the city $15,000 for maintenance through June 30, 2017. The new practice area is on schedule to open the week of the Wells Fargo Golf Tournament in May, and was recently named the tournament’s primary charitable beneficiary.

City HallThe next Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 21. The agenda for this meeting will be posted on the city's website on Friday, March 17.
 
Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, which is located on the second floor of City Hall at 102 North 3rd Street. Parking is available in the Thalian Hall parking lot or in the city parking deck located directly across from City Hall.
 
Meetings are also broadcast on GTV8 (Time Warner Cable channel 8) or simulcast by visiting the GTV8 web page. Following the meeting, videos are available on demand on the city's video archive web page.
