The city began work on a $1.7 million project to install stormwater improvements in the Cedar Avenue area on January 3.
The project is partially funded by a $215,000 grant from the North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund and $250,000 from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
The improvements are expected to significantly reduce flooding problems that occur during heavy rains on College Road between Wrightsville Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall.
