In order to reduce the flooding that occurs in the vicinity of Oleander Drive and Dawson Street during rain events, the city will be making stormwater improvements along Dawson Street and Colwell Avenue beginning April 30.
To construct the improvements, Dawson Street will be open to local traffic only between Wrightsville Avenue and Oleander Drive for up to 40 days. Businesses in the area will remain open and accessible.
To access businesses located in the blue area of the map above, enter Dawson Street via Wrightsville Avenue. To access businesses in the orange area of the map, enter Dawson Street via Oleander Drive. Motorists will not be able to continue from the orange area of Dawson Street to the blue area or from the blue area to the orange area.

When Dawson Street re-opens in late May, work will move to the bike path along Colwell. During this time, detour signs will notify trail users of the bicycle detour.
The River to the Sea Bikeway will not be affected by the work until late May. Detour signs for the bikeway will be posted at that time.
The entire project is expected to be complete in late July 2012. The city appreciates your patience and regrets any inconvenience while improvements are being made.
