Hooker Rd./Mallard Dr. Neighborhood Traffic calming

On Thursday, the city held a meeting for the residents in the area of Hooker Road and Mallard Drive about steps the city is recommending to help slow traffic on those roads. Although a recent study found that the speed of vehicles traveling on Mallard Drive has decreased since the Cross-City Trail was installed there, the city has been notified by a few residents that speeding is still an issue in this area.

Recommended improvements:

• Increasing the height of the speed hump on Mallard Drive;

• Narrowing travel lanes and widening bike lanes on Mallard Drive;

• Installing two traffic center chokers (similar to traffic medians, but shorter) on Hooker Road.
