Cross-City Trail groundbreaking

The city held a groundbreaking on September 14 for the Autumn Hall section of the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail.
This section is one of the last unbuilt portions of the trail. The event was held at the bridge at the foot of Teal Street, which was constructed last spring.
This stretch of the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail includes a ¾-mile section of the trail that will run through Autumn Hall, connecting the Teal Street bridge with Eastwood Road. The construction will cost approximately $425,000, half of which is funded by the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund. Additionally, the easement was provided to the city by the Autumn Hall Development.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
