Taxi stand signage improvements

New “Taxi Only After Midnight” pavement markings will be added to all of the parking spaces in the 100 block of North Front Street (between Market and Princess Streets) beginning on Sept. 24.

To minimize the disruption to parking during the busiest times, the work will be done over several days. Crews will begin work around 7 a.m. The spaces should be available for use by about 10 a.m. after the paint has dried. 

The markings are part of an effort to increase compliance of the taxi stand restrictions in the downtown area. This pilot project will evaluate the effectiveness of the pavement markings in making parking regulations more clear. The goal is to reserve these spaces for taxis after midnight when they are most needed downtown.
