Gary Shell Cross-City Trail

Work is estimated to begin in mid-November on the Shipyard Boulevard connector for the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail. The 15-mile trail is now growing closer to completion and is fully funded. The connector will cross Shipyard Boulevard, traveling along Independence Boulevard between Ashton and Converse drives. Construction should be complete by early spring. Construction also continues on a ¾-mile section running through Autumn Hall that will connect the Teal Street bridge, constructed last spring, with Eastwood Road at Rogersville Road. Half of the $425,000 project was funded by the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund. This portion is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
