Public meeting for new zoning district

On Thursday, Oct. 18, the city will hold a community meeting to present draft regulations and a draft rezoning map for the proposed Urban Mixed Use (UMX) district. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Wilmington Fire Department headquarters, located at 801 Market Street.

The draft was developed using input received in nine public input meetings held so far, including five small-area focus groups. The new regulations are designed to encourage reuse and redevelopment of land and buildings within the older part of the city. The regulations will encourage the construction of multi-story buildings set close to sidewalks that blend in with existing historic structures.
