City preparing for Hurricane Sandy

City preparing for Hurricane Sandy

The City is taking extra precautions and working closely with New Hanover County in preparation for the Tropical Storm warning that is in effect for Hurricane Sandy.

Stormwater staff are clearing out storm drains in preparation for the rain, so that streets will drain as quickly as possible. We may get a lot of rain so residents may want to make sure storm drains on their neighborhood streets are free and clear of any debris so water can drain quickly. Please be sure to secure your trash and recycling bins, by keeping them away from the roads during high winds.

Staff have secured equipment at various city buildings. Extra staff are on call and will be on hand this weekend if needed.
