The Wilmington Fire Department rolled out their old Engine 5 truck at Station #5 so they could roll in their new truck at an official "rolling in" ceremony on February 6.
The new truck has many upgrades and is much safer than the old truck, which had 125,000 miles. Features include improved braking and suspension, an on-board foam system that enables foam to be proportioned and dispensed directly from truck outlets, a climate control compartment for storage of medical supplies, communication headsets and a larger capacity water pump that can deliver 1,750 gallons of water per minute.
The truck features new graphics that display the City of Wilmington logo on the front door and ladder, as well as WFD's motto, "Excellence Through Service."
