Parkway Drive after repaving last year
City crews are expecting to finish repaving Surry Street between Castle and Queen streets this week as part of the city's ongoing 5-year infrastructure improvement plan. Traffic on Surry Street will be reduced to one lane in the affected area while work is underway.
City staff are also working with the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority to coordinate needed water/sewer projects as they finalize a list of street repaving projects for the 5-year plan. As it prioritizes repaving projects based on road conditions, the city is working with other agencies, such as CFPUA and the NC Department of Transportation, in an effort avoid duplicate street closures or unnecessary cost.
