The Wilmington Fire Department’s Haz-Mat team is once again taking the lead as they organize a training class for firefighters across the state.
The team, which won a statewide haz-mat (hazard materials) contest in August, has organized a training class for all seven of North Carolina’s Haz-Mat Regional Response Teams (RRTs). Specially trained personnel from California will educate haz-mat responders on how to properly test for hazardous materials.
The workshop runs from Tuesday, March 4 through Friday, March 7 at UNCW. The class and all associated costs are being paid with grant monies from each team.
