Serious crime decreases for the 6th straight year!

Preliminary 2008 statistics are in

Preliminary crime statistics for 2008 indicate that overall serious (Part I) crime decreased in the City of Wilmington for the 6th straight year.

Click here to view the unofficial annual totals for the eight serious crimes reported to the FBI. The columns labeled “Year-to-Date” compare annual totals for 2007 and 2008.

Murder was the only major crime showing an increase in 2008; however, it is important to note that the 2008 total includes the skeletal remains found in April 2008. Although the two deaths occurred in previous years, the offenses must be documented in the year in which the crimes were reported.
