City Sewer Improvements

City Sewer Improvements

Hewlett's Creek Meeting - 8/27 The city held the third informational meeting for residents in the Hewlett’s Creek area on Monday, August 27 at 6 p.m. at Roland-Grise Middle School, 4412 Lake Avenue.  Citizens in the Hewlett’s Creek area received a mailed invitation to the meeting, which was open to the public.

The city’s consulting firm heading up sewer repairs in the area provided an update and a preview of what citizens in the area can expect as construction gets underway in the next few weeks.

Work that will take place this summer includes relining a half-mile portion of the troubled Northeast Interceptor (NEI) pipeline that runs along Greenville Loop Road, as well as relocating a mile-long portion of the NEI from Hewlett’s Creek to a route that runs down Pine Grove Drive, through the city golf course and down Mockingbird Lane. The city projects that it will be able to reduce the amount of time to make the NEI pipeline by at least two months. The timeline is critical because of the ongoing moratorium on sewer extensions and the limit on new building permits.
