Wilmington City Attorney Tom Pollard announced his plans to retire as of November 30, 2009.
Mr. Pollard has served as City Attorney since 1983. He reports directly to City Council and oversees all legal matters for the city. He reviews and/or drafts virtually all legislation that City Council considers, drafts and negotiates most major contracts, and provides day-to-day legal advice for city officials.
According to City Manager Sterling Cheatham, "Tom has served the city with distinction for more than 20 years. He has great integrity and knowledge and will be greatly missed. In short, he will be very hard to replace."
