Groundbreaking ceremony for new Seagate Fire Station
The Wilmington Fire Department held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 5, . to mark the beginning of construction on the new Seagate Fire Station. The old Seagate Fire Station was recently demolished to make room for the new station, Wilmington Fire Station #10.

Significant improvements to the local stormwater system, combined with a unique site design, allow the station to be built on the site of the old Seagate station. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Saffo announced that the new fire station will utilize the cornerstone from the original station.
Construction of the station allows the city to better serve residents in the annexed areas and maintain its Class 2 rating, which reflects both superior equipment and manpower, as well as quick response times to fires. The project is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
The ceremony was held at the site of the new station, 6102 Oleander Drive.
