Tuesday, November 3, 2009 – 12:45 p.m.

The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a bank robbery this morning at the Bank of America, 3305 Oleander Drive (corner of Independence).

The call was dispatched at 10:54 a.m. According to witnesses, a man came to the counter and showed a note announcing a robbery. The robber implied he had a weapon, but none was shown. The teller handed over cash and the robber left the bank.

The suspect generally is described as a white male, in his 40’s or 50’s, about 5’7”, 170 pounds. At the time of the robbery he was wearing blue jeans, a red or burgundy lightweight jacket, and a Panama-style hat with a print band. The man had a beard and moustache, and he was wearing eyeglasses with large frames.
