The cities of Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach officially dedicated a newly constructed fire boat dock on February 12. The dock, located at 200 Parmele Boulevard in Wrightsville Beach, will be home to Wilmington's second fire rescue boat.
The Town of Wrightsville Beach provided the location, utilities and upkeep for the dock, and the City of Wilmington provided funds for the construction of the dock. This allows us to provide mutual aid responses for water-based fire rescue calls within Wrightsville Beach's jurisdiction as well as our neighbors to the north and south.
The Wilmington Fire Department can now respond much quicker to fires on our eastern shores. The Town of Wrightsville Beach also has access to the fireboat and now has a place to dock other boats, such as their police boat.
