The city is almost finished repairing a half-mile’s worth of damaged sidewalks in different parts of town as part of its annual maintenance and repair program. The repairs began in November 2009 and are expected to be completed by the end of this month.
The project consists of finding and replacing broken and damaged sidewalk panels that could present tripping hazards to pedestrians. Handicap-accessible ramps are also being installed. The work is being completed on city sidewalks in areas around Ann, Nun, Church, Queen, Castle, Dock, Princess, S. 2nd, S. 18th and S. 19th streets.
The repairs are estimated to cost approximately $113,000, or almost $17,000 under budget.
