Althea Gibson Tennis Complex

 
The city held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at Empie Park to officially open the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex. The park is located at 3405 Park Avenue.

The $1.5 million project is a joint city/county project funded by the 2006 Parks and Greenspace Bond.
 
The project includes:

• 10 new lighted tennis courts giving Empie Park a total of 18 courts
• New 1,500-sq. ft. clubhouse
• Stormwater improvements
• 2 new basketball courts
