Empie Park Fire Station Demolished

Empie Park Fire Station Demolished

The Empie Park Fire Station was torn down on Tuesday, July 19 after almost 40 years of service. The station was closed last year after mold was found in the building.

A new $1.9 million fire station will be built on the site in late August. It will have a design similar to the Seagate station on Oleander drive, with an additional 880 square feet. The new station will also accommodate today’s larger fire equipment better than the original station.

Construction is expected to last 10 months. Upon completion, an artifact from the World Trade Center will be permanently displayed at the station.
