Update
The city has completed picking up yard debris left behind from Hurricane Irene almost a month earlier than expected. All told, the city and contracted crews picked up 76,000 cubic yards of debris.
City trash crews are back on regular schedule. Any large yard waste piles that have been put out since the initial storm clean up will be picked up as a part of regular weekly pick-up service.
The city appreciates the cooperation and patience of citizens while this clean-up occurred.
What is a cubic yard?
A typical full-size pick-up truck will hold about 2.5 cubic yards of storm debris. So that means 30,400 truckloads or about 15 football fields with debris 3 feet deep was collected since Hurricane Irene hit on August 27.
