City crews have been busy picking up debris left from Hurricane Irene. Extra crews from other departments within the city were helping the city’s Solid Waste Division to get debris picked up as quickly as possible. Those extra crews included Parks Maintenance staff, which took some of the downed trees to a nonprofit, the local Salvation Army “Woodlot”. At the Woodlot, the firewood is cut and donated to needy individuals who can use it for cooking and heating.
