The Wilmington Fire Department currently has eleven Engines, two Towers and three Squads and other miscellaneous apparatus such as the auxiliary mini pumper.
The Department strives to keep up with the newest firefighting equipment and technologies by purchasing the latest in computer controlled apparatus and devices.
The future includes laptops for each pumper, tower and squad providing emergency fire personnel with technical data that is readily available for particular data such as pre-fire plans, maps and global positioning satelite (GPS) coordinates.
Currently, eight engine companies have been outfitted with Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) and are in use daily.
