Purpose

The Ports, Waterway, and Beach Commission investigates, initiates and supports general water resources development project to include: (1) port improvements and growth of the shipping industry; (2) beach re-nourishment and conservation; and (3) mitigation of declines in water quality.  The Commission studies various projects trying to obtain new and beneficial projects for this area, and maintains an awareness of project effects on the quality of the waters and their inter-relations wiht natural resources.  The Commission has the responsibility of studying and preparing recommendations for the best use of the 3% room occupancy tax funds to be presented for approval.

Meetings

Meetings are held as necessary, usually at 4:00 p.m. at  the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.
