Code Enforcement

Code enforcement has a responsibility to enforce City ordinances that:

  • provide a safe community and vibrant neighborhoods; and,
  • promote a healthy and safe environment for citizens and visitors

In addition, we are responsible for increasing public understanding of the City's policies and procedures, through community events and participation, and various media outlets.

Description:

Sec. 5-111. Abandoned vehicle unlawful; removal authorized.

     (a)    It shall be unlawful for the registered owner or person entitled to possession a motor vehicle to cause or allow such vehicle to be abandoned as the term is defined herein.

      (b)   Upon investigation, the authorizing city official may determine that a vehicle is an abandoned vehicle and order the vehicle removed.

Illegal Dumping is handled by the Police Department. Refer to City Ordinance Sec. 10-17. Dumping or littering on public or private property. Phone: 910-343-3600

Noise is handled by the Police Department. Refer to City Ordinance Sec. 6-26. Phone: 910-343-3600

The Zoning Department handles banners, boats, building without a permit, commercial vehicles, home occupancy certificates, occupancy limitations, trailers, and right of way signs. Phone: 910-254-0900
