To qualify, an applicant must possess a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 21 years of age and possess and have maintained a satisfactory driving record. Applicants will be required to successfully complete the following:
- Aptitude Test
- Background Investigation
- Strength and Agility Test
- Oral Interview
- Pass City's driving standard
- Criminal/Credit history check
- And other posted requirements
To be considered, a City of Wilmington employment application must be completed and forwarded to Human Resources before 5:00 PM on the closing date for the posted vacancy.
Do not forward a completed application for the position of firefighter unless we have posted such a vacancy.
Photocopies of the following documents and those requested in the actual job announcement must be included with your application for firefighter:
- Birth Certificate
- High School Diploma, High School Transcript or GED Certificate
- Current Driver's License
- Driving History-If you have an out of state driver's license include a certified copy of your driving history from that state
- Documents of related training (if applicable)
