The Wilmington Fire Department currently has 11 engines, 2 trucks, 2 rescues, 2 fireboats and other apparatus such as brush trucks and a mobile air unit. All the department 's equipment undergoes routine maintenance by the department's in-house repair shop and yearly service tests. 

The department strives to keep up with the newest firefighting equipment and technologies by purchasing the latest computer controlled apparatus and devices. Each main unit also has a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) that allows fire personnel to access information from dispatch, including maps to the emergency location and additional information provided by callers.
