The final major road closure needed for the North 3rd Street Improvement Project is taking place this week with paving between the railroad bridge and Davis street. Weather permitting, preparation work will take place on Monday and Tuesday and the road will be closed as follows:
Monday: Northbound traffic on 3rd Street will close at Red Cross and drivers will be able to take Red Cross to either 4th Street or 2nd Street as detours.
Tuesday: Southbound traffic on 3rd Street will close at Davis Street and drivers will be able to take Davis to 4th Street, or turn right onto Front Street. Local business traffic will be permitted on both days.
Weather permitting, paving will begin later next week or early the following week with the same traffic patterns. Once the main paving is complete, work will take place in the intersections with intermittent traffic closures. All paving is expected to be completed by mid-December and the road opened back up to four-lane traffic.
