Construction on the remaining Independence Boulevard portion of the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail will begin next week. The project is expected to take five months, during which time there will be intermittent traffic delays along northbound Independence Boulevard, between Commons Drive and Converse Drive.
This project will extend 2,300 feet between Ashton Drive and Converse Drive to connect the existing portions of the trail on Independence. Additionally, pedestrian signals will be added at the Independence/Shipyard Boulevard intersection.
