Work on the Randall Parkway widening project began December 2012 with vegetation clearing and has continued the last two weeks with construction of underground stormwater drainage improvements. Randall Pond was lowered while new stormwater drainage pipes were installed, but the pond will be refilled over the next week.
When complete, the 15-month project will alleviate heavy congestion that regularly occurs between Kerr Avenue to South College Road and will also extend the Cross-City Trail from Brailsford Drive to Marlboro Street. Most of the $5.6 million project is funded by federal and state monies and the 2006 voter-approved transportation bond.
