The boat will support firefighting operations on and near the riverfront, supply additional water supply to fires in the downtown area if needed, support dive operations, enhance rescue operations and better protect areas of the city along the Intracoastal Waterway.
The 50-foot boat is capable of supplying approximately 7,000 gallons of water per minute and applying water to all sides of a structure. The jet-propelled vessel can operate in shallow waters and supply various foams for firefighting. The vessel will be dual manned by the four-man crew assigned to Engine -1 at the Wilmington Fire Department Headquarters.
The vessel will be docked at the Conlon Pier behind the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.
