There will be one-lane road closures along Pine Grove Drive near the Municipal Golf Course while sewer work in the area continues. More than one mile of the Northeast Interceptor (NEI) that currently runs through Hewlett's Creek is being relocated to a route outside the creek.
When completed, the pipe will run roughly from the pump station on Pine Grove Drive up to the Municipal Golf Course, cross the side of the golf course and down Mockingbird Lane to connect back to the existing pipe. The new pipe installation along the golf course and Mockingbird Lane has already been completed.
Two other NEI-related projects are also underway. Almost a half-mile of the NEI that runs along Greenville Loop Road is being relined and several upgrades are being made to the Hewlett’s Creek pump station on Pine Grove Drive.
Altogether, the three projects cost more than $5 million; work on the NEI pipe relining and relocation projects is expected to be completed in January.
