Effective April 27, there is a new way to pay for parking at downtown meters. All on‐street parking meters downtown now accept payment by phone. To use the service, customers call 1‐888‐380‐7275 and key in the location number which is posted on the meter and the amount of parking time desired. Once the credit card and license plate numbers are entered, the total amount (plus a 35‐cent service charge), will be charged to the customer’s credit card. Customers can also elect to receive a text message reminder a few minutes before their meter time expires. Customers can then call back and add more time, if desired, thus reducing the chance of a parking violation.
Working with Verrus Mobile Technologies, Inc., Park Wilmington’s new service is designed to make it easier for customers to use on‐street parking downtown. “We’re glad to give our customers the choice and convenience of using coins or credit cards for their short‐term, on‐street parking,” said Parking Manager Betty Gurganus. The service is offered on all 760 on‐street metered parking spaces in downtown Wilmington.
