Citizens' Fire Academy

The City of Wilmington Fire Department is holding their third Citizens' Fire Academy this spring. The program is free of charge and classes will be from 6-9 p.m. every Tuesday from March 29 - May 3. There will be a graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 7.

The academy is designed for those members of our community who would like to know what it is like to be a firefighter and how to make our city a safer place to live. Activities include hands-on experiences with professional firefighters in fire prevention, rescue, communications, hazardous materials identification, extinguisher training, basic first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and tactical and water rescue.

Class size is limited, so interested parties must register in advance by March 1.
