City Council awarded the annual Service Award to Louise McColl at their meeting on May 3. Ms. McColl currently serves on the Golf Course Advisory Committee and the Convention Center Advisory Board.
The award is presented annually by City Council to recognize a citizen who gives significant time and effort to the community by serving on a City Board or Commission. All of the volunteers recognized at the meeting were nominated by representatives of a City Board or Commission. Also nominated were Alice Mitchell, chairperson of the Community Arts Center Board, and Lloyd Rohler, a long-time member of the Historic Preservation Commission.
According to her nomination, Ms. McColl is the president of McColl & Associates and has served on the Golf Course Advisory Committee for two years. Previously she served on the Thalian Hall Center Advisory Board and has been chair of the Wilmington Planning Commission. She also volunteers with organizations such as the CFCC Board, Rotary Club, Coastal Horizons, Good Friends, Chamber of Commerce Board, NC State Ports Authority Board and NC Department of Transportation Board.
