9/11 Tenth Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony

A 9/11 Tenth Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony and dedication of Cape Fear Community College’s World Trade Center Artifact Memorial took place on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Cape Fear Community College’s North Campus. Wilmington Fire Department Chief Buddy Martinette spoke in remembrance of the day and about his experience as a first-responder at the Pentagon.

The city and CFCC each received one of two artifacts from the World Trade Center. Upon completion of the new Empie Park Fire Station, the second World Trade Center artifact will be dedicated and permanently displayed in a memorial garden designed by the Wilmington Fire Department to honor Wilmington’s fallen firefighters.
