Saturday Azalea Fest parking

City and County parking decks will be open until 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 (the day of the Azalea Festival parade) and will re-open following the parade.

Because of the parade route, entry to the decks will be from 2nd Street only, and access to 2nd Street will be via Chestnut or Grace streets only. Market Street will be closed at 5th Avenue on the morning of the parade, so festival attendees coming downtown from this direction will need to turn onto Chestnut or Grace streets from 5th Avenue.

For those arriving from the direction of the MLK Parkway, traffic will be directed off of 3rd Street to 4th Street via Davis Street, then to Grace or Chestnut streets.

Law enforcement officials will be on hand to assist vehicles crossing 3rd Street at Chestnut and Grace streets. Only vehicles parking in the decks will be permitted access to Chestnut and Grace streets on the morning of the parade.

Those wishing to exit the parking decks will need to leave via Market or Grace streets until about 4 p.m. on Saturday. Law enforcement officials will be on hand to direct traffic.

Access to all parking decks should return to normal after 4 p.m. for festival events.

Possible delays in entry and exit  should be anticipated due to festival traffic.
