||Negotiations on a proposed baseball stadium are ongoing. City officials met with representatives from Mandalay/Atlanta Braves, but have not yet finalized a deal. The negotiations are expected to be wrapped up in time for City Council to take action at their August 7 City Council meeting.
A special Council meeting was held on July 24. At the meeting, a public hearing date was set for August 7 regarding issuing bonds for the project and put the issue on the November ballot, if Council decides to move forward once negotiations are finalized. Council has indicated that the referendum amount would be less than $42 million, if they decide to move forward. This was the highest dollar amount cited in the feasibility study and therefore identified as the maximum amount that could be on the ballot.
