Market Street will be closed to traffic briefly several times on Friday, Oct. 12 during the procession and funeral for Army National Guard Sgt. Thomas Jefferson Butler IV.
Traffic delays can be expected. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible between 8 a.m. and approximately 1 p.m. Officers with the Wilmington Police Department will be working with other law enforcement agencies to coordinate traffic flow.
Anyone planning to pay tribute to Sgt. Butler along the route should plan to park on side streets or at satellite locations.
Parking along the escort route on Market Street will be prohibited on Friday morning.
