EVENT CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER
The 2nd Annual Gary Shell Cross-City Trail Run, Ride & Roll event will be held on October 27, 2012 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Registration is FREE! Walk-up registration will take place at Halyburton Park the day of the event between 9 - 9:45 a.m. and the event will begin at 10 a.m.
Families, friends and neighbors are invited to walk, run, bike, roller skate or rollerblade along the Cross-City Trail from Halyburton Park to Empie Park and back. Activities include a Cross-City Trail scavenger hunt, trick-or-healthy treating, a trick-your-bike competition, bicycle safety, live music, health screenings, vendors and other activities. There will be a drawing for prizes and prizes will be given to winners of the scavenger hunt and the trick-your-bike competition.
BlueCross BlueShield NC recently gifted the city $550,000 for construction of the section of the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail from Wade Park to John D. Barry Drive and $5,000 for sponsorship of the Run, Ride & Roll event. When the City Council officially accepted the gift on Oct. 16, the 15-mile trail became fully funded.
Wilmington was one of only three North Carolina cities selected to receive funds from BCBSNC for this type of project.
