The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a public meeting to discuss the temporary closure of S. 3rd Street (U.S. 421) on Thursday, April 18, from 5 - 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 102 N. 3rd Street.
Citizens are invited to drop in anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. to speak individually with NCDOT officials about the project.
NCDOT proposes to close S. 3rd Street for several months beginning in the fall of 2014, so that crews can replace an aging pipe used for overflow from Greenfield Lake. The pipe is under S. 3rd and S. Front streets. In addition, the department proposes to improve pedestrian and bicycle access at this intersection.
During the road closure, traffic will be detoured. The work is expected to be complete by spring 2015.
For more information, contact the NCDOT at (910) 341-2000.
NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for persons with disabilities who want to participate in this public hearing. Anyone requiring special services should contact the NCDOT at the above phone number as early as possible so that arrangements can be made.
