Greenville Loop sidewalks

Crews will be installing drainage pipe along Greenville Loop Road beginning June 3 in preparation for a new sidewalk between Greenville Village and Bradley Creek Elementary. There will be some intermittent lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. while work is underway.

Cape Fear Memorial Bridge lane closures

There will be intermittent lane closures in both directions on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge beginning at 9 p.m., Sunday June 2, so that the NC DOT can perform bridge maintenance.

Rare Venus Flytraps stolen

Almost 90% of the rare Venus Flytraps growing in the city’s new Alderman Park have been stolen, according to the City’s Parks Division. Parks staff report that well over 1,000 of the plants now in bloom have been dug up over the last few weeks.

Oleander Dr. lane closures
The NC DOT is closing lanes on Oleander Drive so the road can be repaved between Hawthorne Drive and just south of Eastwood Road. Closures are expected to occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly for the next several weeks.

Public Input Meeting, Thurs May 30
On Thursday, May 30 at 6 p.m. the city will hold a public input meeting about a major stormwater improvement project upcoming in the Brookshire/Beasley Road area. The meeting will be held at Parsley Elementary School, located at 3518 Masonboro Loop Road. [Read more...]
City cleans up old gas station
Crews are at 406 Dawson Street removing four aging undergrounds gas tanks that once served as a gas station at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Dawson Street. The site has been vacant for years and qualifies as a Brownfields site. [Read more...]

The Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden, located in Alderman Park, is in full bloom! Alderman Park is the city's newest park and is located off Independence Blvd. next to Alderman Elementary School.
