One block of Water St. closed

Beginning Monday, May 20 until Wednesday, May 22 Water Street will be closed from Princess to Market, in front of the Federal Courthouse building, while the US Coast Guard does preliminary work related to future repairs of the nearby Riverwalk bulkhead. This same portion of Water Street has been closed intermittently over the last two weeks while the city is making other repairs in the same area.

The bricks on a small portion of the street will be temporarily paved over with asphalt next week while the road is closed. The paving is being done to help fill in a small area that has settled where rainwater is collecting in the street instead of running into the stormdrain. The bricks that are being temporarily paved over are only about 15 years old and many are cracked because of the roadway settling. All of the bricks will be replaced next year as part of the planned Riverfront Park project.

Note: This closure will NOT affect Friday's Downtown Sundown Concert Series or Saturday's Farmers' Market.
