Randall Pkwy halfway complete

The city's Randall Parkway widening project is on schedule and now almost 50% complete.

Most of the new travel lanes, walk/bike path, curbing and drainage ditches have been completed on the west side of Randall Parkway between Independence Boulevard and Kerr Avenue. Along the east side of the road between Kerr Avenue and College Road, crews expect installation of stormwater drainage pipes to be completed over the next few weeks.

Stormwater improvements that will help alleviate area flooding are being done as part of the project and include four major stormwater crossings with catch basins.

More than half of the project’s $5.6 million budget comes from federal and state monies, with most of the remaining funding coming from the 2006 voter-approved transportation bond. The project is expected to be completed in early 2014.
