Safety Expo a success!

      This year's Community Safety Expo on Friday, June 14th at Empie Park was a success! People had a chance to look at SABLE's helicopter, tour the Empie Park Fire Station, checkout WPD's bomb squad and much more. The event was free and open to the public and was put on by the City of Wilmington and New Hanover County.

Highlights included:
• Food vendors with food available for purchase
• Child car seat checks
• Safety demonstrations
• K-9 units, mounted horse patrol, motorcycle brigade, bomb squad, robot and helicopter
• Identity theft prevention with FREE shredding of personal documents (use the Wrightsville Avenue entrance, limit of 5 boxes per person)
• CPR training
• Blood pressure checks
• Safety classes for kids
• WECT will program weather radios for hurricane season
