The exploratory excavations that the US Coast Guard have been conducting in Riverfront Park are set to wrap up during the week of August 12. The tests will help the Coast Guard coordinate needed repairs with the city’s planned improvements to Riverfront Park next year.
As a result:
- Water Street, between Market and Princess streets, will be closed to southbound traffic until the work is completed on August 9. Northbound traffic will be able to pass through the work area.
- Downtown Sundown concert on Aug. 9 will be held in the old Wachovia parking lot, located at the corner of Princess and Water streets.
- The Saturday Riverfront Farmers' Market will remain on Water Street.
- The Sunday Downtown Wilmington Historic Marketplace will be relocated to Bailey's Theater Park on Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
